A Turkey at the White House

Just in time for Thanksgiving, my critique partner Jeannine Norris, has an article in the November issue of Highlights for Children.

"A Turkey at the White House," describes how each year the President pardons a turkey in an official ceremony. Jeannine writes, "The pardoning of the turkey dates all the way back to President Lincoln."

Check out the article to discover the rest of the story and to see President Obama pardon a 45-pound turkey named Courage.

  1. Shannon,

I came across your blog after searching for other children's writers. There aren't many listed that way in blogger though. I think most people that write just put down writing for an interest. I'm relatively new to children's writing. My writing blog is under the name BRIANWOODS, named after my son who died. Unfortunately, I see we have that in common.

Stop by my blog and say hello if you get a chance.

    Ken

  2. Hi Ken,

I will stop by and have a look at your blog. My son died from Sudden Infant Death Syndrome several years ago.
